Endorsing hsetroot
I just discovered hsetroot – finally, an Esetroot replacement that can actually replace Esetroot. The sole reason I kept Eterm around was that I couldn’t find anything better, but having to keep a package I don’t even like bugged me. As a bonus, hsetroot does much more than Esetroot. Features: simple image manipulation while loading images; generated backgrounds, both solid colour à la xsetroot
, as well as gradients, even complex ones; you can even tint an image using a gradient. Above all though, it’s tiny and very fast. The only dependence is Imlib2, which explains the excellent performance.
